2019 FBA Season/19.06.06/PLY@BGR/Capsule
It's Game Two here in Bangor, Maine as the Tides and Plymouth Taproots face off once again in the Eastern Conference Finals. Although the Tides had dominated for most of the season and are favorites for this series, the Taproots aren't slouches either, having a remarkable rebuilding off-season that paid off very handsomely. Although the Tides won Game One at home, the Taproots remain a serious threat to take the series away from them.
And during the second quarter, it looked like the Taproots were starting to edge away and steal this game from the Tides, and by halftime it was 55-50, Plymouth. The Taproots bench performed much better over their Maine counterparts, with Natalie Bellemare ending the game with 16 points and Yesina Selas with 13, while the Tides' best scorer from the bench were Pura Doris Quaatsch and Gary Elsinore with just eight (more on Gary later). However it was a different story with the team's starters. While Jake Turner and Michael River proved troublesome for Tia Terra and Raoul Kidane, Leon Delmont ran circles around rookie Trevor Cruz, and the Tides' Small Forward rat Randulf Mackenbach was perfect behind the free throw line and 6 of 9 from the arc, ending the game with a POTG performance of 34 points as the Tides overcame a fourth quarter deficit and won Game Two, 119-114.
After the game, seemingly drunk with victory, the sometimes unpredictable Gary Elsinore taunted in front of the Taproots' bench, making obscene gestures including crotch chops, profane words, and even a V-gesture in front of his lips as if to imply vampire fangs in front of Michael River, an old college rival of his. Cameras however caught the gestures and the FBA decided to quickly fine him $10K for his actions. Elsinore's not expected to appeal the fine.
Game Three will be at Plymouth, and the Taproots hope to prevent a sweep.
