Jaeger Rudek Lewandowski (Mandrill, born September 1, 1991) is a retired professional basketball player who played two seasons with the Bangor Tides before finishing his career with the Lorain Firestorm in the Furry Basketball Association (FBA).

Biography

Son of Polish immigrants and middle child of seven siblings, Jaeger was born and raised in Chicago's East Village.

Though Polish was his first language, he forgot much of it as he developed his thick Midwestern accent, finding English to be more useful and plentiful in school and beyond his community. Lewandowski was said to be a confident, independent and boisterous child growing up, apt at making friends as well as enemies, and neither caring which he had. He had the unsavory habit of beating his chest and shouting a primal howl in the face of a challenge or in celebration, a gesture often seen as rude or derogatory to his Old World family. Also much to his placid parent's chagrin, Lewandowski took to collecting piercings, tattoos and grooming his mane into a mohawk, which contradicted his family's beliefs and traditions, leading them to think that their fourth child was corrupted by the city and destined to succumb to the criminal elements (despite being a stanch straight-edge vegan). People who knew him best often speculated he was a typical product of being the middle child.

But Lewandowski had a healthy interest in sports, and being a limber long-limbed simian he excelled at basketball, lacrosse and futbal. He often took bus trips without his parents knowledge, running away to other parts of the city, especially if there was a big game at one of the local universities. Despite being defiant, he did well in school, knowing that good attendance and good grades meant he got to participate in sports, perhaps even get a chance to attend and participate in the more prestigious college games. Maybe even someday play for the FBA, he dared to dream.

Lewandowski has been portrayed as having a "terrifying presence" on court, an image he cultivated intentionally and unintentionally. His war paint-like markings and tusks coupled with his fearsome aggression on the court made his charges formidable despite his average size and earned him the nick name "The Warsaw Warpath" (even though having never set foot inside Poland, and despite his family coming from Szczecin). Unfortunately, he had also been known for his self-interest and tantrums. He did not necessarily have a temper, but he was quick to over-react, often taking selfish risks during games. This attitude got him benched on many occasions. Not being able to play was enough to change his tune by the time college rolled around.

Now a days, Lewandowski is described as being dedicated but still very ostentatious while on the clock, but also exceedingly outgoing, still making friends with his colorful spirit as well as making enemies with his loud mouth as easily as he had growing up. Through some hard lessons, Lewandowski has learned more about how the path to victory is made with teamwork, but still can't help shining when he catches his moments.

Gap Year

After failing to secure a contract during the 2014 FBA off-season, Lewandowski slipped into restricted free agency and took a year away from the game to see the world. In 2015 the Lorain Firestorm offered the primate a walk-on contract which he accepted.
